Terry W. West
Terry W. West is a senior partner of the West Law Firm. West was born in Ada, Oklahoma, and grew up in the small railroad town of Francis, just north of Ada. After graduating high school in 1956 at the top of his class, he attended East Central University and then transferred to the University of Oklahoma. He later attended The University of Tulsa College of Law’s night school program, where he served as the managing editor of the Tulsa Law Review and graduated with his L.L.B. in 1966.
West has been a member of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Association since 1968 and has served as the organization’s president twice — in 1973 and again in 1988. He has been involved equally as long in the American Association for Justice (formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) and served on the ATLA Board of Governors from 1974 to 1977. An Oklahoma Bar Association member for 46 years, he served on the OBA Board of Governors from 1987 to 1989, has twice served on the Judicial Nominating Committee and has been appointed by the Oklahoma Supreme Court to serve on standing committees for the preparation of the Oklahoma Uniform Civil Jury Instructions, the Committee on Judicial Evaluation and the Committee on Civility and Professionalism. He currently is general counsel to the Oklahoma Counsel on Judicial Complaints.
Some of West’s other accomplishments include Fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and listed numerous times in Best Lawyers in America and Oklahoma Super Lawyers.
