Native Tulsan and TU graduate Sidney G. Dunagan (BA ’65, JD ’67) was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1968 and has practiced for 47 years in federal and state courts, specializing in class actions, complex business litigation, oil and gas disputes and product, and professional liability. The University of Tulsa College of Law, rejoined the firm as an associate after serving with distinction in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps and has been associated with the firm ever since — first in its Tulsa offices, and for the past 20 years in Oklahoma City. Dunagan is a Vietnam veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and Meritorious Service Medals.
Dunagan is a member of the American Bar Association where he served in the House of Delegates from 1993-1994, and the American Bar Foundation where he was Oklahoma’s state chairman from 1989-1991. He was a trustee of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation from 1992-1993. Within the Oklahoma Bar Association, he was a member of the Board of Governors from 1984-1995; vice president in 1987; and president in 1994. He is a member of both the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the Tulsa County Bar Association, where he was president from 1990-1991. He served as a director of the Tulsa County Bar Foundation from 1991-1997. He is also a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for 25 years. He has been rated by Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent for 30 years.
Dunagan also was designated one of the Top 50 Lawyers in Oklahoma. He was appointed and served as a Judge of the Temporary Court of Appeals in 1981 and 1991.
The Tulsa County Bar Association recognized Dunagan as Outstanding Senior Member in 1992. In 1981, he received the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Earl Sneed Award for his contributions to Continuing Legal Education and the John E. Shipp Award for Ethics in 2007. In 2010, Dunagan received the Oklahoma Journal Record’s Leadership in Law Award. He taught bar review courses in the areas of pleading and civil practice for 20 years and has presented over 100 CLE programs.
